Australia exports more goatmeat than any other country in the world but we supply less than 0.4% of global goatmeat consumption. The top consumers are China, India and Pakistan who essentially grow their own. Over 50% of all Australian goatmeat is exported to the US.
Growing urbanisation and affluence in China and India, increased protein consumption, growing preference for lean meat may all have flow on affects for the Australian goat industry.
